GO & TELL NETWORK

We’re on the second year of traveling and homeschooling our sons, Gus and Jeb, ages 13 and 11. The whole point of our travels with the kids is to give them the benefit of experiential learning–being there and seeing the world for themselves. But of course our kids aren’t the only ones exploring their world. Others are doing it too–sometimes via trips overseas but more often, in their own backyard.

We hope that our Kendrick World Class will evolve into a site where kids can share with other kids what they’re seeing and learning via videos.  Kids teaching kids, in effect, which we think is a refreshing break from top-down education. We think it will be good for the kids making the videos (since nothing makes a lesson stick better than teaching it) and for kids viewing the videos, since they’ll see what other kids find interesting and important.

We are inviting kids to view videos in this section and to share education-related videos they’ve made (it could be a science experience they’ve filmed, or a field trip to a museum or a visit to a historic site in their home town). Please post your video on YouTube and send us the link. We’ll publish the link and when possible, some places kids can go for additional research. Let’s get the conversation started!
